16 Things To Look Forward To In 2016

It's finally 2016! Though you may have felt that 2015 was the a happening year here are 16 things to look forward to in 2016.

1. Presidential election.

This year will be filled with all sorts of political news and campaigning. Regardless of where you stand on the political spectrum, you have to be a little excited to see who our next president will be! Don’t forget to register to vote!

2. Television shows.

The new year means new seasons -- of TV shows that is! "Scandal,' "How To Get Away With Murder,' "Pretty Little Liars," etc. Whatever your poison is, you can bet that the season premiere is upon you! Not to mention all the exciting Netflix releases that are approaching! "House of Cards"? "Orange is the New Black"? Yes, please!

3. Adele’s going on tour.

"Hello" -- it’s here! The long awaited release of Adele’s latest album satisfied many fans last year, but this year you have the chance to see her on tour! If you thought she sounded good on vinyl, wait until you here her live!

4. Fantastic beasts

All the "Harry Potter" fans have been raving about this movie since it’s announcement in 2014! Now, fans will be able to revisit the magical world of "Harry Potter," but have adventures with a whole new crew!

5. Summer.

Though we will have to suffer through a few months of cold weather, summer is undoubtedly coming! With summer comes the freedom from schoolwork and not to mention music festivals! Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, you name it -- 2016 has it!

6. Space hotel.

Every year, science seems to amaze us more and more, but this year might just be the cherry on top! Russia unveiled their plans for a space hotel in early 2011, and in 2013 told the media that the project would be completed by 2016! Spring break in space? Check me in!

7. Olympics.

This summer all eyes will be on Rio De Janeiro as the nation will be hosting the Summer Olympics. I, for one, can not wait to see the USA dominate once again!

8. Troops leave Afghanistan.

For years, the world's eyes have been glued to the Middle East. Known to be a region many Americans find unnecessarily occupied, U.S. and European troops are planned to leave the region in 2016.

9. New music

With the new year comes new tunes to be excited about! Previously mentioned was Adele’s world tour, but there are an array of artists who are planning to release albums this year! These include the ever popular Katy Perry, Wiz Khalifa, Kanye West and Lady GaGa.

10. Leo wins an Oscar.

Could this finally be the year the well deserving Leonardo Di Caprio receives his first Oscar? We can’t say for sure, but I mean how many times can one guy get snubbed?

11. Super Bowl.

Football’s biggest night of they year plans to make it’s debut once again in 2016! Whether you watch the Super Bowl for the football or the grade A commercials, it's always a night to look forward to!

12. Leap year.

This year is bound to be better than the rest, in fact it’s going to be so great we added another day! That’s right, folk,s 2016 is a leap year! So for all you Feb. 29 babies, party it up -- you won’t be celebrating for another four years.

13. iPhone 7

Though it seems like just yesterday Apple released it’s latest iPhone, 2016 will be the year the iPhone 7 debuts! Maybe Siri will sport a cute British accent this year (fingers crossed).

14. "Batman vs. Superman."

Contrary to the team Edward/team Jacob mania that swept the nation in 2008 to 2016 will see the beginning of a more macho trend. "Batman vs. Superman" will be hitting theaters in 2016 and regardless of what side you’re on it will be a pleasure to see the ever talented Jared Leto playing Batman’s arch rival, The Joker.

15. March Madness.

Considered a national holiday for all basketball fans, March Madness is the highlight of the year for many people. Schools from all over the nation battle it out for the NCAA championship trophy. While no one has been much of a front runner for the trophy so far, one can only hope the CATS see their ninth championship this year!

16. A fresh start.

Regardless of anything that has happened in your past consider 2016 to be your second chance. This can be a year to reinvent yourself, or simply tweak yourself to be the best you can be. Let this be the year you say goodbye to those bad habits or bad people that are holding you back! This is your year, make the most if it!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
