The Do's and Don'ts of Day Drinking
On one hand, you have the normal response to day drinking. Normal people with real world jobs only day drink because...

On the other hand, you have the entire college population who have really ambitious life goals...

Day drinks are absolutely the best thing about spring semester. Warm weather, cute clothes, prime instas, what more could you ask for? Unfortunately, freshman me was unaware of how glorious these events were and I missed most of them in order to binge watch SVU (honestly that still sounds pretty tempting).

But remember:

DO eat breakfast.

This is crucial! Now is the time for bagels and egg sandwiches (preferably on a bagel). You know your body needs food to counteract the alcohol, so don't be stupid and try to save calories here.

How I learned this: Freshman me considered Burnetts to be a breakfast food. It's not.

DON'T try to be a frat star.

We get it, you drink. But don't be sloppy about it. Especially in broad daylight where everyone can and will see you embarrass yourself.

DISCLAIMER: If you start taking shots before noon you WILL pass out at the day drink. Side story: At a day drink last year, my friends and I thought we were hot sh*t and started drinking screw drivers at 9 a.m. which soon turned into shots. Needless to say, I passed out around noon and woke up (with many battle wounds) at the day drink around 7 p.m... not my finest hour.

DO experiment with a new style.

Now's the time to break out that cute romper or the new Chubbies you just got. My personal favorite accessory for the warmer weather are hats. I get that some people aren't hat people, and thats unfortunate for them, but find an accessory you like and make if a focus point of your outfit. Maybe it's the shoes, or jewelry, or for guys maybe a bright belt . If you're trying to go for hipster vibe please note that there is a fine line between hipster and homeless.

DO make sure your outfit is malfunction proof.

Pretty much self explanatory. If your wearing a dress, wear spandex with it.

DO blast good music.

Day drinking playlists are the best because they have the most variety. Country, throwbacks, classic rock, early 2000's, pop, house and hip hop all mixed together on one incredible playlist. Crowd pleasers include: Drops of Jupiter, Meet Virginia, Ocean Avenue, Wagon Wheel, Doses and Mimosas, Sweet Caroline anything Billy Joel, Aer, or Red Hot Chili Peppers.

DO ride the bull.

If you're lucky enough to have a mechanical bull at a day drink, then you better take advantage of it because you know it's secretly on your bucket list. Don't be boring, at the very least, it'll make a good story. On the right, you can see me falling off after a laughable attempt. It probably took me 3 minutes to get on only to fall off in under 10 seconds.

DON'T ride in a police car.

THE last thing you want is an underage or a drunk in public. Seriously cops are every where, especially if you go to a big school. Imagine how that conversation with your parents would go, "Ugh hi mom, so like I kinda got arrested yesterday"....

DO dance (appropriately).

It's a day drink. If you're grinding with people you need to simmer down and do so much less. Day drinks are a place for fun swing dancing in cute dresses.

DO mingle and meet new people.

This is usually best done over a bag of wine. Making new friends is fun because then you no longer have the excuse that you don't want to go somewhere because you don't know anyone.

DON'T make out with these new friends.

I shouldn't even have to say this. If you actually think that sloppily making out with someone in broad daylight in front of hundreds of other people is a good idea, then you do you. I hope your friends are smart enough to at least get some quality snapchats of it.

DO wear sunglasses

Or as I like to call them, fun-glasses. Not only are they a necessity for blocking out the blinding sun, but also they make any unsightly picture seem like you've got your sh*t together. These double as a fashion accessory with all the different styles you can get.

DO take tons of pictures.

Take advantage of this! You have now entered into prime insta territory. The lighting is great, you're outfit is cute, the background looks fun, and you'll be able to post it during prime insta time. Ensuring maximum FOMO to those poor unfortunate souls who weren't there.

DON'T try to jump in with the band.

If you're lucky enough for there to be a band at the day drink, it's a great time. Nothing better than live music, however there is one rule. Sing along with the band but don't jump up and try to take the mic away. If you had the voice of Mariah Carrey, you would've known it already. Day drinks are not the time to test your vocal abilities.

DO get dinner.

Or a feast? Once again, this is vital! And of course anything you get will taste amazing!! My advice: chicken quesadillas.

DON'T go out that night

You see what this dog is doing? That's exactly what you should be doing. Sleep, recoup, wake up with out a hangover, get brunch and discuss what an awesome day yesterday was.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
