Sunday is a day for relaxing — not having to set an alarm, not having to go to work or class and just being able to take a quick breather after your hard week. And what better way to relax, then to go to your favorite restaurant and have brunch? Brunch, a combination of breakfast and lunch, is the greatest meal of all time. It is everything you want in a meal … plus more. This is why I set aside a time every Sunday to have brunch. I really hope that everyone gets the chance to have this insanely delicious meal once a week, and if you don’t, I hope this article will give you reasons make time for it.
First of all, the timing of brunch is off the charts; it is at the perfect time of day. You can sleep in if you want, or just take your time getting out of bed. You don’t have to rush to get ready. Brunch, to me, is any time between 10:30 and 12:30, so you don’t have to get up early, like you would have to breakfast. But brunch is still early enough so that you do not feel as if you're wasting your day away sitting in bed on your computer. Brunch isn’t too early or too late … it’s just right.
At brunch, the choices are endless. Omelets, skillets, bagels, waffles, french toast, pancakes, burgers, grilled cheese, soups, salads…basically anything you want. The world is your oyster at brunch; you can make it anything you want to be. And since, in theory, it counts as two meals, you can basically eat double the food (that’s how it works right?). You can get either a breakfast meal, or lunch meal, and neither option involves judgment! You can get what you want, and eat as much as you want. What's better than that?
Wait! There’s more! Brunch doesn’t only double your food options; it doubles your drink options as well. Coffee, fruit juice, milk, hot chocolate … anything! And best of all, it makes it socially acceptable to drink alcohol in the morning (if you are over 21 of course)! Whether you’re in the mood for a coffee with your pancakes or a Bloody Mary with your eggs, the brunch world will welcome you with open arms. So, really feel free to go all out at brunch.
(In relation to the limitless choices of food and drink, I would also like to point out how photogenic the food and drink is. For certain food, it’s impossible to look presentable. But brunch is always business casual and ready for a photo-shoot. P.s. Brunch Instagrams always get the most likes.)
Another thing that rocks about brunch is that it doesn’t matter who you go with—brunch won’t judge you. You can go with your parents or siblings, your entire extended family or a significant other. It is a common misconception that brunch is a meal only for couples to attend. Brunch is a time for togetherness, so you can go with anyone. (I would even go to brunch by myself!) The relaxing nature of the weekend allows people to make time in their busy schedules to come together for a meal. If there is a friend you haven’t seen in a while and want to catch up with, go to brunch. If there is a family member coming to town, take them to brunch. If there is a birthday for anyone in your life coming up, I suggest you take them to brunch to celebrate. Brunch is a perfect meal to go to with basically anyone in your life, so please take advantage of that, and go!
To summarize, brunch is the most amazing meal of the day for three reasons: it is at the perfect time of day, the meal and drink choices are infinite, and you can go with anyone! (Not to mention it’s totally photogenic.) Brunch is great for any occasion, so please, for your own sake, make time for it.
