Open Letter To Those Who Feel Alone In This World

Dear everyone who has ever felt this way,

Don't you know that the universe conspired for you to be who you are? Yes it did and that is why everyone on this planet is unique and different. You're amazing and smart and beautiful. In the wise words of Carole King, "You got to get up every morning, with a smile on your face and the show the world all the love in your heart." In order to get over this stump of feeling alone (note that there is a difference between being alone and feeling lonely) and like nothing is going your way, you have to change the way you think about yourself.

How you carry yourself while going about your daily life is crucial to those around you. However, the most important relationship you will ever have in your entire life, is the one you have with yourself. I cannot stress this enough. Relationships, will always end. Whether it's by break-up, drifting apart, or even death they will always end. The relationship with yourself is the only one you are stuck with forever and that can be a good thing! First, you have to think of the little things you do. Think about the fact that you got out of bed this morning -- good job! You're alive, breathing, and have food to eat. That's amazing. Keep it up! Or even as little as the fact that you logged onto social media and stumbled upon this article and can read it, I dare you to make it to the end.

Once you realize the little things, the big things will start to come to your realization. You graduated high school, that's a damn good achievement; not many people in this world can say they did that! You learned to drive and got your license; now go out into the world and show everyone what you're made of! Or how about making it to your 21st birthday? Go outside and take a deep breath into the fresh air because you reached an age milestone that some will never reach. "You is kind, you is smart, you is important." ("The Help," 2011).

Someone once told me that the beauty of life is never knowing what's going to happen next. So next time you find yourself in a situation where you feeling down, change your perspective. Think of how you can turn yourself around into knowing that life is beautiful and full of surprises.

Disclaimer: This is only one way of looking at life in general. I understand that not everyone is going to relate to this article, and that there are those who are suffering from depression and people who don't have as much as an optimistic view on life as I do. I understand that there are going to be people who come across this article who are probably thinking, Screw this, she doesn't know what she's talking about. This is just coming from my personal experiences and what I've learned over the years I've been alive. Life is hard and it's incredibly difficult, or in most cases, impossible, to change people's perspectives on certain topics -- views on life being one those.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
