The kids of today are not given the same luxury as when kids were growing up in the beginning of and through the early 2000s. The t.v. shows before and during the early 2000’s were genuine, creative, funny, and gave positive messages to youngsters as they were growing up. Every Saturday was spent religiously catching up on all these shows and seeing new episodes being aired. Here is a quick reminder of the top 15 shows of that time period…

1. "Lizzie McGuire":

"Lizzie McGuire" was a show about a normal girl growing up. She wasn't a secret spy or a rockstar. We watched this normal girl deal with normal middle school problems like getting your first bra or wanting to be popular or being a good daughter.

2. "That’s So Raven":

Raven was a psychic growing up in San Francisco with loving and supporting family and friends. That's so Raven often dealt with issues like body image issues, racism and different cultures in a way that kids could understand. And Raven's high jinks were always entertaining.

3. "Drake & Josh":

"Drake and Josh" were step brothers that though they were different, they always came together. This show was hilarious from Megan's prank to things never going Josh's way to Crazy Steve. And the music was on point.

4. "Kim Possible":

"Kim Possible" was a crime fighting agent with the help of her goofy best friend saved the world. "Kim Possible" was a strong female character for young girls to look up. The show dealt with gender stereotypes, being bullied and other issues that come with being a teenager. This show gave all of us unrealistic expectation of what a naked mole rat would look like.

5. "Hannah Montana":

"Hannah Montana" was a normal girl with a normal family and friends except she was also one of the biggest pop stars in the world but no one knew that. This show was great down to Miley doing anything to make sure no one knew she was Hannah or the secondary characters like Rico and Jackson were hilarious.

6. "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody":

"The Suite Life Of Zack And Cody" was hilarious. Zack and Cody were always up to something and often dragged their friends from hotel like Maddie, London, Esteban or Irwin and having to hide it from their mom and especially Mr. Mosely. And in the end, the boys would learn a valuable lesson about not destroying hotels.

7. "Rocket Power":

"Rocket Power" was about a group of four friends who often did extreme sports like skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing and rollerskating. The group learns how to be better athletes and friends. Tito also gave the best advice even though it didn't make sense.

8. "The Proud Family":

"The Proud Family" was about a black family and their adventures, focusing on Penny Proud and her friends. Penny Proud and her family and friends taught us about different people and culture, as the show had so many characters of different race. Sugar mama was probably the funniest part of the show.

9. "Dexter’s Laboratory":

Dexter was a boy genius with his own lab that no one knew about, not even his own parents. Dexter often went too far but he always learned an important lesson.

10. "The Powerpuff Girls":

The Powerpuff Girls were tough girls who fought crime and saved the day. The Powerpuffs taught us important lessons like standing up for yourself.

11. "Courage the Cowardly Dog":

"Courage the Cowardly Dog" was terrifying. This show didn't matter if it was meant for kids, it was the most horrifying show but it was entertaining and funny.

12. "Rugrats":

"Rugrats" was about the adventures of a group of toddlers. This show always taught you an important lesson like you shouldn't be afraid of everything or that your sibling is always there for you.

13. "Zoey 101":

"Zoey 101" was about Zoey and her friends' adventures in P.C.A. We watched as Zoey and her friends got into some crazy situations and they were always hilarious.

14. "The Wild Thornberrys":

"The Wild Thornberrys" was about Eliza and her family traveling the wild as her parents film animal documentaries, Eliza could talk to animals and often used her powers to help animals. This show taught us a lot about animals and nature.

15. "Teen Titans":

"Teen Titans" is about a young group about superheroes living together and fighting crime. It's almost like "The Real World" but animated and with superheroes.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
