Love Your Body Every Day (in 15 Easy Ways!)

The Panhellenic Association is kicking off its “Love Your Body Month” campaign, which supports positive health and self-image. They aim to bring awareness to eating disorders, sexual assault, and mental and physical wellness. Beyond the month of February, we must continue to practice self-care, as well as look out for each other.

1. Skip Netflix- Get some sleep!

I know how much you want to stay up late catching up on Sons of Anarchy and The Bachelor…. But losing sleep to a computer screen will hurt you the next day! Shut all of the lights off, close your eyes, and watch the screen of your dreams.

2. Enjoy the great outdoors

It’s a little cold out now, but even getting outside to walk to class will make a huge difference in your wellbeing.

3. Smile

You’ve heard it before… smiling actually can make you happy (AND happiness is more attractive).

4. Be your own best friend

Sometimes spending time alone is the best thing for you. Take the time to ground yourself and just do what YOU want.

5. Play with a pup

Pets = happiness.

6. Have a girl’s night

Create a healthy environment by just hanging out. Don’t stress about your looks, be natural, and have fun.

7. Mind, body, soul

It always comes back to yoga. For a holistic health, connect all three elements.

8. Positive tunes

Listen to music with uplifting themes. Aggressive and sad lyrics can bring you down more than you know.

9. Don’t just hear; listen

When a friend comes to you with a problem, be an active part of the conversation.

10. Let it all out

It’s more than okay to cry! In fact, it’s relieving.

11. Challenge yourself

Do something that takes you outside of your comfort zone. Once you accomplish it, you’ll feel SO good about yourself.

12. Hit up the farmers’ market

Get some raw ingredients and cook a healthy meal.

13. Let the Sunshine in

Open your shades in the morning and let the rays kill the germs. Natural light wakes your mind and refreshes your space.

14. Treat Yo Self

Eat a treat. Take a break. Go out. Splurge on a purchase. Have some fun!

15. Validate yourself- you know how amazing you are!

Grab a dry-erase marker and write a couple of positive things about yourself on your mirror. You are your biggest support. Remind yourself every time you look in the mirror!

With love for all my Panhel Sisters- xoxo

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
