Tallahassee, like many college towns, has a very diverse and dynamic nightlife. Our reputation is no secret, and some might even say that part of our Seminole pride is upholding the original symbolism of our beloved Garnet and Gold – wine and beer. There are many different places and atmospheres to hang out during the evenings, assuming you are of legal age. Whether you are looking for a calm, mellow night out with friends, or a crazy time dancing and meeting new people, there is a place for every occasion. Choosing where you decide to go out for the night says a lot about your personality and the type of night you enjoy.  

  Here’s what your favorite Tallahassee bar says about you. 

The Strip. Most likely, you are a senior who owns a Ken’s mug (and t-shirt), loves dollar doubles, misses Mama G’s nachos, and still talks about how much fun Inn Between was. We get it; us underclassmen will never understand.

Potbelly’s. You are probably a freshman who loves the location because it is close enough to campus that you can stumble back to your dorm and order Jimmy John’s delivery when the night is over. The best part about being a Pot’s lover is that they are open almost every single night of the week, so you never have to ask your friends where they are going; you can always assume it’s Pot’s.    

Clyde’s. If you are too cool for Pot’s, you are probably at Clyde’s. It used to be the best little happy hour secret -- a place to go that was not as crowded as Pot’s, but was still open early enough on Friday afternoons that you could start your night before the sun set. It is also the place on Monday nights for the people who want to forget that Friday is still four days away.     

Mint Lounge. You think you are classy because you like to dress up and drink lots of cheap wine.  Normally, you would do this on your couch watching Netflix, but half way through the week you feel you deserve a night out! There is nothing wrong with that, even though you often have to fight the urge to run to the bathroom and try to scrub the spilled Merlot off your new wedges.     

Standard. You prefer to spend your nights at the Derd, and you get mad at everyone who calls it a shoe box. You don’t care how hot and crowded it can be, you just came to dance, anyways. Plus, you have probably met more best friends in the bathroom than anywhere else in town. The best part of your week is '90s night, when you can sing all the words to your favorite 'N'Sync song, “Bye Bye Bye,” without anyone judging you. I mean, it was released in 2000, but that is close enough to the '90s, right?      

Madison Social. You are over the same old routines of Tallahassee’s nightlife. You no longer feel like pretending you are having fun every night while being spilled on by children, and cannot believe you, too, used to act like that only a few years ago. You would prefer to sit at a table with friends and order food with your drinks, while talking about anything but the inevitable day you will have to leave the place you have come to love and consider home.     

Coliseum. You are either still in Tallahassee celebrating your 27th birthday, or you really like to rage. You posted constantly on Facebook before this show to see how many of your friends were going, and you cannot wait to make everyone jealous when you end up in VIP meeting the DJ (pics or it didn’t happen). You also go out knowing that anything you wear can and will be destroyed, and you are okay with that, because clothes can be replaced, but memories will last forever, right? Unless, of course, you don’t remember anything.
