The Instagram Drinking Game

It seems everyone has something negative to say about social media – and they usually say these things via social media (ironic). The list of complaints people make about it could go on for days. Social media is taking over the world. People do not know how to communicate effectively. You should not worry about how many likes you get on a post. Everyone tries to make their life seem more interesting on social media. That girl does not look like 300 likes in person. The list could go on.

However, I am very sad to inform you that complaining about all of the horrendous things social media has introduced to society will not make it any less prominent in our lives. So what should you do about it? Use it as yet another excuse to laugh, drink, and be merry. Seriously, scroll through your Instagram feed with your friends, and turn it into a drinking game.

  • First person to have a selfie appear on their feed gets to choose a friend to take a drink. If you think the person used more than three apps to look like that in their selfie – make your friend take two sips.
  • Whenever anyone sees a picture of food on their feed, consider it a social drink for everyone in the room.
  • If you find any couple pictures, make every single person that’s in a relationship drink for 4 seconds. If nobody in the room is in a relationship, then everyone cheers to being single.
  • First person to find a gym selfie, choose a friend to take a sip – unless of course you yourself have posted a gym selfie before – then you have to drink for 5 seconds because you, my friend, are obnoxious.
  • For every **artsy** post – you know the cool pictures of random items assembled on a table with a cup of coffee next to it – find someone to drink for 3 seconds with you.
  • The person who finds the funniest post by f*ckjerry, beigecardigan, tindernightmares, daddyissues etc. gets to choose a person in the room to chug.
  • For every post with a caption lasting longer than 5 lines, choose a person to drink for as many seconds as there are remaining lines in the caption.
  • First person to find someone who used more than 3 hashtags on one picture – choose someone to drink for as many seconds as there are hashtags on the photo you found.
  • For every “bestie” picture on your feed – drink. Warning: if you’re in a sorority or have lots of friends in a sorority, you may end up drinking a whole lot on this one.
  • For every happy birthday picstitch you see, take a drink for whoever’s birthday it is (whether you know them or not) – it would be impolite not to.
  • First person to spot a picture with a quote from a rap song as the caption, choose a person to drink for 3 seconds.
  • And finally, for all #tbt’s (especially when it’s not even Thursday), everyone in the room cheers. Cheers to the fact that #tbt is even a thing. Cheers to the fact that you’re probably getting heated that it’s Tuesday and #tbt’s are strictly for Thursdays. Cheers to the fact that you’re annoyed because this picture is not even THAT MUCH of a throwback. Cheers to the fact that Instagram is slowly turning all of us into monsters.
  • And then after cooling down from your frustrations that Instagram has provided you, cheers again, and cheers to the fact that Instagram has provided you another excuse to laugh, drink and be merry with good company.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
