Florida State Fans Embrace The Hate

An open letter to Florida State fans

Florida State Fans Embrace The Hate

Everyone loves an underdog story, we all know that. The unfavored team comes from behind, takes everyone by surprise, and becomes a champion. This is not an underdog story. This is a story of fighters. This is a story of champions.

THE Florida State Seminoles, the reigning college football national champions, have been in the media in a highly negative light lately. Whether its a sports reporter complaining about how high FSU is ranked relative to a "weak" schedule (don't even get me started on that), or the latest biased media outcry regarding Jameis Winston,  Seminole fans are sick and tired of being put on blast. To make a long story short, something about the Seminoles just makes people angry. What is it you may ask? Because we are winners. Our team may not have it all together on the field at all times, they may make silly mistakes that drive us insane, but at the end of the day FSU Football finds a way to win.

Statistically speaking, should the Noles have won every game so far this season? Most certainly not. But that's what winners do - they find a way to win at all costs. With all of this in mind, it makes sense that people love to hate Florida State.

The Seminoles pose a threat. Our team is unpredictable, yet they still have an extremely loyal fan base willing to follow them into battle through hell and high water. On top of this, our team has been through some tough times lately - namely, accusations of misconduct by Jameis Winston. Through it all, the TRUE Seminole nation has trusted the process of "innocent until proven guilty," not condemning our fearless leader, and standing behind our team through good times and bad. While the media aggressively points out every little flaw, we stand strong, united as one, ready for the next challenge.

So I write to you now, Seminole Nation, to encourage you to hold your heads high, as we have in the past. All eyes are on Tallahassee, the world wants to see us fall, because we are the "villains" of college football. We are the team that everyone wants to see beaten. We are the team that the underdogs are gunning for. We are unconquered.

Embrace the hate, and accept that we are now the bad guys. E(SEC)PN can say what they want, and so can anyone else, because we aren't going anywhere. The rest of the nation can keep indirectly sending us their open letters to Jameis Winston (check out Alabama's latest one one here), keep berating us due to their opinion of our schedule, and keep looking for us to slip up. All we can say to them is good luck getting to us. Let us all stand together in these times, embrace the hate, and realize that Seminole Nation is a force to be reckoned with.

To all of the cynics - we see you; we acknowledge you. And, we wish you nothing but the best in your endless journey to bring us down, because you're going to need it. Because here at Florida State, if we're gonna do it - we're gonna do it big.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
