It's Just a Bad Day, Not a Bad Life

Reasons Why Life is Freaking Awesome

Whether you failed that micro test you've been studying two weeks for, getting dumped by your first boyfriend, spilling coffee on your favorite white shirt, or having your mom yell at you because you charged five margaritas onto her credit card, there are things that make life great even when it sucks.

1. Getting into bed of clean sheets right after a shower.

2. Hearing your roommate talk in her sleep.

3. Laughing so hard you feel like your lungs are going to collapse and feeling like you now have a six pack.

4. When your favorite song comes on at the bar and you can't help but to scream along to it.

5. Apple and pumpkin picking.

6. Men's flannels.

7. It being so chilly so early in the morning that it wakes you right up.

8. "Text me when you're home" texts.

9. Getting an A on something you lost a week of sleep for.

10. That first sip of coffee when you're exhausted.

11. Food when you're drunk.

12. Food when you're sober.

13. Long naps. Short naps. Grandpa naps. Cat naps.

14. That back cracking hug from your best guy friend.

15. Smiling at stupid text messages.

16. Waking up to a snow day.

17. Driving with your sunglasses on and all the windows rolled down.

18. All types of breakfast foods (in bed): pancakes. bacon. waffles. sausage. scrambled eggs. toast. grits. biscuits.

19. Knee high boots, leggings, scarfs, hats and pumpkin spiced lattes.

20. Unexpected sex.

21. Not setting an alarm for the next morning.

22. Having a full tank of gas.

23. Making the perfect cup of tea.

24. Finding a curly fry in an order or regular fries.

25. New makeup that fits your face perfectly.

26. When you have a really good hair day while wearing a cute outfit and seeing your crush.

27. Being wine drunk. Or being drunk in general.

28. Finally getting over that person.

29. Harry Potter marathons.

30. Baking your favorite Christmas cookies and dipping them in milk.

31. Getting so excited after taking a really good selfie.

32. Sunflowers.

33. Going on a winning streak during beer pong.

34. Fuzzy blankets; fuzzy socks; fuzzy kittens; fuzzy pups.

35. Getting drunk with all your friends and telling them how much you love them.

36. Hugs from your mom and grandparents after not seeing them in a while.

37. Unexpected compliments.

38. Morning sex.

39. The anticipation the night before leaving on vacation.

40. First kisses that mean something.

41. Knowing that your friends will always have your back no matter what.

42. Succeeding in something you were struggling at.

43. Overcoming the stressors in your life.

44. Seeing your best friend from home after months of being away.

45. Catching up on all your favorite TV shows.

46. Watching old Disney movies.

47. The start of a new relationship.

48. Looking at old photos and reminiscing on the great moments.

49. Remembering the bad times and being proud of yourself knowing that you overcame them.

50. Remembering that every day, no matter how bad the day is, only you have the ability to change your life in the direction that you choose.

These things make studying harder for that next exam, finding someone who is way better than your ex, bleaching your white shirt until it looks good as new, and getting your mom drunk off two margaritas worth it. Life is great and so is your ass; remember that.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine.
