Can You Guess What Is The Greatest Human Strength?
Ed Gregory

Something I have always wanted to find out is what is the greatest human strength mankind has to offer. This is an idea I have pondered for a very long time. I have always wanted to find the strength that I could utilize to my advantage and make me into a more successful person.

It wasn't until my English class freshman year that I had found out which one it is. Usually, I fear and dislike assigned books for English classes because they usually are not great and I get nothing out of it. After reading an assigned book "Willpower: Rediscovering the Greatest Human Strength" in my English class I have realized that the greatest human strength is willpower. Willpower is defined as the ability to control oneself. I completely agree with this. In the book, it presents how to use your willpower to your advantage. If you are able to focus on a topic and allow yourself to reach your full potential, then you will achieve success.

A personal example of finding willpower was back in high school years. In my junior year soccer season for my school team, we had recently lost 17 seniors on the team and we only had three players returning coming off a title contending team. The two other players returning and myself were promoted at captains. That year our soccer team had struggled mightily losing and tying games we should have one. It was especially hard recruiting players and helping the coach find positions for them that would help the team out the most. We had a great team but we weren't that successful. We got knocked out of the playoffs really early. It was demoralizing at first. That following summer after finishing junior year, we wanted to finish our high school careers off with a banner. That summer we convinced our team that we can have a bounce back year and win the title.

I truly feel fortunate to have a team that was willing to have and use their willpower to make this goal come true. We came into the season as an underdog. We used that as motivation. That gave us an edge and made us even more determined to win the banner. We completely proved the league that we were a top tier team being undefeated and winning the title for our high school. It was the first time my high school had one soccer championship in 25 plus years. It was one of the best memories of my senior season and something that I will never forget.

I definitely recommend getting the book "Willpower: Rediscovering the Greatest Human Strength" by John Tierney.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
