Live a Little With a Bucket List

Every college is different - from their campus traditions to the local town bar that everyone hangs out on a Friday night. But no matter the difference from campus to campus, every college student should have a college bucket list. It may sound simple enough, but when thinking of ideas for this very article it was hard to narrow it down to only a few suitable items for a true college bucket list.

There are many things that we all want to do or see in our life: items such as skydiving, snorkeling or traveling to some far off tropical island. But it's harder to think of the simple things that we could or can do on our own campus. I know it seems a little silly to sit down and write out a list of things that you want to do, but if you don't make a list it's harder to remember all the things you want to accomplish or even get them done.

When constructing the perfect (read: appropriate, G-rated) bucket list, it's important to think of things that you know are practical yet at the same time risky and fun. Here are a select few items that you might be able to add to your Iowa College Bucket List.

Kiss someone on the steps of the Old Capitol

Learn the Iowa Fight Song

"The word is "Fight! Fight! Fight! for IOWA,

Let every loyal Iowan sing;

The word is "Fight! Fight! Fight! for IOWA,"

Until the walls and rafters ring (Go Hawks!)

Come on and cheer, cheer, cheer, for IOWA

Come on and cheer until you hear the final gun.

The word is "Fight! Fight! Fight! for IOWA,"

Until the game is won."

Take the Cambus to the opposite side of campus.

Attend the Iowa New Play Festival from April29 - May 5th at University Theater.

Visit the inside of Old Capitol

Attend at least one game for each Hawkeye sporting event

Karaoke at Sam's to some ridiculous song

Sit through an entire football game

Go to every bar in Iowa City

Steal or attempt to steal a composite

Go to someone else's date party

Participate in homecoming or Greek week activities

Win a homecoming dance or Greek week shout!

Get into your major program

Take a workout class for the fun of it

Go to a barn dance... or some extreme themed party

Go see a movie at the IMU... it's actually pretty cool

Go to a concert at the Blue Moose

Participate in Dance Marathon

-Go to all frats' and sororities' philanthropy events

Lay on the Pentacrest for a whole day and read a book

Get an A in a challenging class

Hang out with a member of the Iowa football team for a night

So there are a few ideas that I have for the Iowa Bucket List in particular that are fairly reasonable and doable. I personally feel as though it's a good idea to have a bucket list because what is life without goals and a little risk taking?  We all need a little excitement in our daily lives; a way to accomplish the things that we want to strive for. What better way than to create a sort of wish list? Anyone can go skydiving and to a tropical island, but the things that will fill your Iowa bucket list, you and your classmates only have the opportunity to do. Think of things that are specific to the Iowa campus because after your four years here, you might not have another chance to take advantage and capture the good it has to offer.
