Oklahoma Sunsets and Graffiti
Over Christmas break, I was venturing out like I do. I was trying to get my think on, and so I decided to do a little exploring. It was close to sunset, so I decided to go west, because as we all know, Oklahoma has the best sunsets. I remembered going down 44th street in high school a few times, all the way up to where it meets I-35. So, I decided to go see what I could find out there. As I turned on to 44th and started heading into the sunset, the beauty of what I was seeing floored me. The sun was painting the clouds all kinds of golds, blues, pinks, and greens. I could hardly look away. I kept trying to find a good spot to stop and watch the sunset. I’d get to the top of one hill and stop for a second, and then look out and think, “That hill looks better, I’ll keep going.” The further I journeyed out, the more I found. I found a creepy graveyard called Marena and a really cool water tower just begging to be climbed. "Higher" by the rock band Creed came on shuffle, and I immediately thought two things; 1) Zach Stiefel (@Ziefel2340) 2) I must be approaching my destination. And right I was. Now this is where I am going to leave a little bit of the adventure up to you. You see I found, quite possibly, the greatest place around Stillwater, Illwater, Chillwater, whichever you prefer, to watch the sunset. In the spirit of adventure, I will leave it up to you to figure out what and where this place is on 44th. Once you see it, if you have the spirit of adventure in you, you’ll know. Sunsets aside, if you are looking for another cool date idea, there is something else to be found on 44th. If you go west on 44th, and keep going for a long ways (beware, 44th is a very bumpy road. My Passat makes it, but I have to go slow and I miss my truck Reggie dearly), you’ll get to I-35. The interstate goes over 44th, and it’s kind of cool to go under it and listen to the cars go overhead. As far as a cool date idea goes though, taking out some spray paint and making graffiti on the concrete columns would be pretty fun. The drive alone is worth it; you get to see some of the, more or less, untamed parts of Oklahoma. So, go forth my friends, adventure till your last breath, and when that last breath has been taken, continue the adventure. Signing Off, The Local Adventurer
