A Groundbreaking CeremonyFor 51 years, the Tri Delta “roundhouse” has served many meals, meetings and memories. It is arguably the most unique house on sorority row, and has given many wonderful memories that last a lifetime. The roundhouse stands out among the sorority houses because of its unique round shape.
Four stories towering tall next to Alpha Chi and Delta Zeta lies the home of the Tri Deltas. However, on Dec. 11, 2011 at 3 p.m., the members of Tri Delta gathered around to watch the ceremony of the groundbreaking for the construction of their new home. For all it's hard to say goodbye to a home away from home, but most agree it is time for the Tri Delts to have a new home on sorority row.
This new home will be the third Tri Delta home the University of Alabama has supported; it will give more space for a strong growing chapter, and be more convenient for the members and alumni. This is a special and memorable time for the members as they end one chapter of their lives, but begin another. The construction of the new house has been long awaited by the current active members and is exciting to many alumni.
The new house will still be keeping some of the traditional “round” aspects, however, but with a more modern architecture. More of the members will be able to live in the house and everyone will experience a more relaxed home away from home feel. The members and alumni members of Delta Mu are grateful to the University of Alabama, its Board of Trustees, Dr. Robert Witt, Dr. Lynda Gilbert, Dana Keith, Tim Leopard, Sommer Coleman, Dan Wolfe, the Office of Student Affairs, and all the willing and helpful staff members that worked alongside the alumni to make this dream possible.
This is an exciting time for everyone, and all the members are waiting in anticipation for the house to begin actual construction. Tri Delta will be moving to their new house along with Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Delta Pi and Delta Gamma, who are all underway of a new house as well. Tri Delta is excited to embark and share these new memories with their new neighbors and is confident this is a positive move into their future. It's hard to say goodbye to the beloved roundhouse as it has served the members well, but every member is excited about the new possibilities and memories that the new house will bring!
