Odyssey Update

Welcome back to the Thrill.  Hopes are high as the smell of a National Championship fills the air on campus.  Best of luck to Roy’s Boys as they embark on their journey to the top.  The melodious words of the Talking Heads seem more relevant than ever and home, here at Carolina, is where I want to be and stay for years on end if I could.  Our great University affords us a place and community to keep our feet on the ground with our heads in the cloud as it shapes us, and we, in turn, shape it into the flagship it is for America’s fleet of public universities.  As spring classes ensue, be sure to take a much-needed break and pick up an Odyssey.  Our staff is looking to make some big moves for the upcoming semester.

Be looking out for:

-Our new Twitter, @TheOdyssey_UNC - follow us for updates on Greek happenings

-Our Facebook, The Odyssey at UNC - post what you’d like to see covered in The Odyssey

-Friends' articles online at www.theodysseyonline.com - “like” your favorites and get involved by adding your own comments

-Greek calendar filled with upcoming events you won’t want to miss

-Post or tweet your chapter’s events so we can cover them and add them to the calendar

-Meet the Presidents section- Featuring our chapters’ new leadership

-Franklin Street Haunts- Reviews and experiences at of some of our favorite restaurants, stores, and “watering holes”

We’re looking to better represent Greeks on campus as a whole and are looking for writers from all houses.  This is a great opportunity to boost your resume, have your voice heard throughout our community, and have a shot at being featured nationally in USA Today.  Be sure to check out our own Ramy Kalioby’s article that made the cut for his contribution on the often underestimated art of body language.  If you'd like to join one of the fastest growing publications in America, email anyone of us for questions or advice and apply online at www.theodysseyonline.com/writerapplication.

For the upcoming year, we want The Odyssey to be your go-to source for Greek events on campus and developments that are relevant to our community.  Greeks have needed a tool such as The Odyssey for quite some time, and we are continually working to create a pertinent publication that suits Greeks far better than our competition, but we can’t do it alone.  We welcome any feedback and suggestions to allow for a better reader experience and feel free to post, tweet, or email us with anything you’d like to see featured.  On behalf of the entire staff, thanks for reading and best of luck with classes.
