Getting Ready for the Holidays

Christmas time is here! However, it’s too easy to get lost in the horror of finals week and forget all about this incredibly joyful holiday! One of the easiest ways to keep you sane during this upcoming week is to bask in all the Christmas cheer you can get before you have to go back home and spend time with your quirky relatives. You need to get in as much of Carolina as you can before you have to be torn away from wonderful Chapel Hill for three whole weeks (look on the bright side, at least your mom will do your laundry.)

· ‘Tis the season for bar golf! Now that the semester is slowly coming to a close, it is best to end it with a bang. Bar golf in the fall is 10 times better than during the spring semester solely because most of the time it is Tacky Christmas theme. Whether you are a golfer or a caddy, it is time to get out the jingle bell earrings and a chic sequined mini skirt. FORE!

· Rockin’ around the Christmas tree… Nothing is more likely to get you in the Christmas spirit than getting a Christmas tree for your apartment/dorm room! If you live in your sorority/fraternity house, get each person to bring their favorite ornament and put it on the tree!

· One of my favorite things about UNC’s campus in December is fraternity Christmas decorations! Nothing is wrong with a healthy dose of competition, especially when it comes to seeing who can have the most ridiculous amount of inflatable decorations. Kudos to the brothers who are brave enough to scale the roof when hanging the lights!

· Santa Claus is coming to town… Who doesn’t love presents?! Get together and do a Secret Santa! There are many different variations like White Elephant (where you pick a number and that is the order in which you can pick your gift), or Dirty Santa (where you can steal the gift that you want the most).

Christmas is a time of giving and sharing memories with the ones you are closest with. While you are sipping on your Starbucks Gingerbread latte, remember to soak up these last couple of weeks in Chapel Hill.
