Stud of the Week: Mark Dunn
With this marking the fourth week I’ve been doing this column, I think I’ve found the biggest stud so far in this week’s article. Mark Dunn did something that no one at IU has ever done. Dunn received an invitation to participate in the 2011 NFL combine after never playing college football. In Illinois where he went to high school at Lake Forest, Dunn played tight end and defensive end. He has great hands and football IQ for tight end, the position he will be pursuing at the combine. At 6’6” and 225 pounds, his size only poses an advantage for him as well. Dunn has said his role models growing up were Martin and Bill Gramatica, both were very successful place kickers in the NFL. He said he loves the family competitiveness that they have with one another, and added, that if tight end doesn’t work out for him; he would be more than willing to give kicking a try and model his career after the Gramatica’s. Dunn was a difficult man to track down with all of his preparation for the combine that is scheduled to run the last week of February. He is working on increasing his speed and strength as much as possible before the event to give him the best chance at impressing NFL scouts. Our whole campus is behind Dunn in his quest to fulfill his dream of being in the NFL. Good luck Mark, no one is debating that you are a stud. Charlie is a junior studying public financial management and marketing. You may contact him at cwhansen@umail.edu.
