Dear Shatty
Dear Shatty, This time of year brings up a lot of mixed emotions for me. With spring break creeping up, I obviously have to look good. I got a tanning membership, and I've been working on my beach body every day for about five days now. Things are looking good. However, I just discovered that there is a Girl Scout cookie finder app. As an ex-girl scout, I felt committed to the cause and downloaded the app almost immediately. I definitely want to be able to fit into my bikini, but I don't want to be vain and turn a cold shoulder on the organization that made me the woman I am today. Please help me, Shatty. Sincerely, Big and Bronze
Dear Big and Bronze, Let me start off by saying this is the best time of year for everyone. Not only is spring break closely approaching, but girl scout cookies are everywhere. Coming from a person who has had their fair share of girl scout cookies, I feel your pain. Those colorful boxes are almost irresistible when you make eye contact with them. Even if they change the names on the boxes, like they did this year, you know what box you want. That box could be in a different language but you'll always know it's a Samoa box. Also, this time of year is that critical "beach bod" season that everyone hates participating in. You see all types of creatures coming out and trying to work on their physique to look good for that one week in March. Some helpful tips for you to enjoy both of the fantastic "seasons" you are in right now is to just stay active. Go running every day with a friend around campus to keep yourself in shape. Even if it is just a small loop around the dorms, the added exercise will help knock off some of those unwanted pounds. Another bit of motivation might be that running outside can also help with your tan. Stop wasting time with the artificial sun and get out there with the real sun to get some color! Also, although it kills me to say it, just watch how many of those glorious cookies you eat. Maybe one or two a day is a good way to manage that. If you're feeling hungry, eat something healthy to balance out the cookies and you should be all right. It's good to hear that you still appreciate where you came from, too. It's always good to support something like that that has been an important part of your life. Don't let the guilty pleasure of eating the cookies stop you from looking good on spring break. And don't let spring break be an excuse to stop this excreting, too. It will be good to get into a habit of working out so that when next year comes around you won't be faced with this issue. I feel that if you do some of things I've mentioned, you'll be able to have the best of both worlds. This won't be the easiest of tasks, but I think you'll be able to get through it. Scouts honor. Sincerely, Shatty
