5 Apps to Keep In Mind During Exams

The last full week of classes have begun, which can only mean one thing: exams are right around the corner. The library will begin to pull in a crowd, frantic studiers will be everywhere, and students will more than likely be searching for new and innovative ways to remember all of the information needed to pass finals.

With the influence of technology growing, I have turned to different apps that can be used on my smart phone, iPad, or laptop to help me pass those tests. Here are 5 of my favorites.

1. Wunderlist

Having trouble keeping up with everything that needs to be done, when you have different things due, and what should get done when? Download this app that allows you to create as many to-do lists as needed. I have my everyday list, grocery list, and then a list for every class so I know what all is needed to be done! Trust me...it is amazing.

2. 30/30

Terrible at effective studying habits? Download 30/30 to keep yourself on track and to give yourself something to work towards. This app will let you color code different tasks and decide how much time you want to spend on each task during each round. So maybe you'll study Spanish for 20 minutes, then write a paper for 20, then take a ten minute break. It is up to you, but the app keeps a timer so that you can break up everything that you need to do!

3. Studyblue

You know what I hate? Spending hours writing flashcards, having them spill everywhere in my backpack, and inevitably losing a few from the stack. Never let this happen again by using this app that allows you to make flashcards online. It doesn't take nearly as much time, is hassle free, you can study them on your laptop, tablet, or phone, and you can share with other classmates and see what other people have written about the topic you are writing about!

4. SelfControl

I finally wrote two sentences of my paper! Now I can get on Facebook, Pinterest, and Netflix for three hours, right? Wrong. You will never get anything done this way. Download SelfControl and type in the websites that will distract you from studying and the app will not let you log on to those websites for as long as you have the set the time limit for. If you set it for 48 hours, then say goodbye to them for 48 hours because this app is fool-proof.

5. Evernote

I love re-writing my notes, but that always takes hours and ends up wasting a ton of paper. Use Evernote and you can create "notebooks" for each subject, categorize your notes, highlight, and anything else that is needed!

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
