Big and Little Season is one of the most exciting times of the year! Directly following Formal Recruitment, its a wonderful time when the old and the new come together and define a new brand of sisterhood that will last until next year's Recruitment. For new members, finding a Big means realizing a deeper connection with your new house (and tons of fun goodies, obviously!). For actives, finding a Little means getting a chance to grow your family and make a difference in someones life (not to mention endless crafting, if you like that sort of thing). As fun as all of this sounds, however, it doesn't come without its own fair share of stress! Just like dating, there is a constant worry that you haven't met the right person and that you will be forever alone. Its important to take a deep breath and remember that no matter what, it all works out in the end!

1. You are set up randomly.

Despite the potential awkwardness, you can’t help but be excited!

2. Dress to impress!

Is it weird to do your makeup to get frozen yogurt? Screw it, you know you rock a smokey eye.

3. Your potential big will (hopefully) pick you up.

You wonder if its safe to get into a car with a stranger, and then remember the countless Uber charges on your bank statement. Oh well.

4. Your concern with first impressions is nothing short of inordinate.

How much eye contact is too much? Am I Staring? What do I do with my hands?

5. Small talk is a painful but necessary part of breaking the ice.

It’s like recruitment all over again. “Where are you from?” “What’s your major?” Kill me now.

5. You probably will do something very first date-y and generic.

….like coffee, or froyo. You're certain that Big/Little hunting is a sure contributor to the Freshman 15.

6. When sparks fly, you think, “Could this be the one?”

…and you hope she feels the same way.

7. Getting dropped off and saying goodbye is pretty awkward.

Do we hug? Do we make plans for next time? Oh, man.

8. All your friends will ask you, “How did it go?” And you will gladly share every detail.

Because your future big/little will be around a lot, friend approval is obviously a must.

10. Afterwards, you wonder if you should text her, or if she’ll text you first!

The age-old question: “hey” or “hi”? I don't want to scare her off!

11. Hopefully, she doesn't “fall” for someone else!

Are we monogamous?

12. You can’t wait to see where things will go!

Big/Little Reveal can’t come soon enough!

Future Littles: Even if you don't know her yet, your big sister is going to be a wonderful role model and friend in just a few weeks!

Future Bigs: Even if you don't know her yet, your little sister is going to be amazing and beautiful!

So enjoy the "chase", and take a chill pill. (Or maybe just eat some more froyo).

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
