The Donald seems to be on fire! He is dominating all polling for the Republican presidential primary. This has sent all political pundits into a freefall. They cannot seem to understand what is fueling his momentum. He has motivated the conservatives in a way not seen since the 2010 midterm election that put an end to President Obama’s agenda.
Recently, Mr. Trump has said that he would support tax increases for the wealthy. This is a stark contrast with other Republican presidential candidates. For instance, Senator Rand Paul has called for a flat income tax of 14.5%. Mr. Trump believes hedge fund managers should pay more. His tax plan strikes a more populist tone. He wants to cut the taxes for the middle class and increase the rates on those wealthier. This seems to be in line with Bernie Sanders. It shows how uneducated the GOP base is on the issues, that they would rather just listen to a bunch of hot air.
Mr. Trump has called for a corporate tax cut. I actually agree with this. This tax has forced many American companies to look at offshore alternatives to increase their ability to thrive. It is going to be interesting to see how the Republican primary plays out before the next debate. The problem seems to be a Republican base that doesn’t care.
Donald Trump can say that he will bring unemployment to 0% with no plan to back it up and the GOP would believe him.
