Things That Happen When You Go Home for Christmas Break

1. Seeing your pet and taking pictures with your pe

2. Seeing your parents… and eating their home-cooked meals.  

3. Seeing your friends… and avoiding your ex. 

4. No assignments. AT ALL.  

5. Binge-watching all of the Netflix shows that you meant to watch during the semester.  

6. Reading a book FOR FUN.  

7. Living off of your couch.  

8. Acting like it’s 2012 with your best friends.  

9. Going to parties with parents.  

10. Doing everything with parents.  

11. Going “Christmas” shopping with your mom.  

12. Seeing the Christmas décor all over your city.  

13. Running into a teacher from high school.  

14. Running into anyone from high school and promptly avoiding them.  

15. Finally getting to go to the local bars… or not. You’ll get there someday.  

16. Using Christmas to find the perfect Instagram with your mom/dad/sibling. 

17. Getting bored after being home for four days.  

18. Seeing everyone’s snap stories, because whenever you go home, snap stories exponentially increase.  

19. Having food at home “for free,” even though most of our parents supply for our college pantries as well.  

20. Christmas movie nights — "National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation," anyone? 

21. Snow (if you live anywhere other than Texas).  

22. Having parents instead of Uber drivers.  

23. Waking up at 11:30 a.m. (at the earliest) every morning.  

24. Until you wake up at 7 a.m. for Christmas. SANTA! 

25. Opening your presents, which may consist of some “college things": kitchen utensils, a Keurig, etc.  

26. But MAINLY, finally getting that short 2 ½ week break that we all needed so desperately, until it’s time to start over.
