An Open Letter to My Little Brother

To the little brother, who acts like the older brother.

An Open Letter to My Little Brother

Hey. Sup.

So everyone has started writing these "open letters," so I guess I might as well write you one.

Even though you're my "little" brother, you're pretty much my older brother. You're bigger than me. You're louder than me. You're slightly more outgoing than me. You definitely make more money than me (what?). You also think you can beat up any male that ever talks to me, even though you probably could.

Basically, we grew up fighting, beating each other up and getting mad at each other for spying on the other. You put up with me and my best friends putting makeup on you (sometimes in your sleep), - even though one time you repaid us by putting nail polish in our ears, thanks - stunting you while we practiced for cheerleading and stealing the gameroom from you to watch movies. We have countless videos of us dancing to songs like "Brass Monkey," and then stopping immediately when Mom would come upstairs. There were times where we seriously injured the other - but now we crack up laughing about.

Now you've come to the point where we are so close in age (and just so mature) that we share friends, hang out together and die laughing together. We still fight. I still tell on you. But we still always laugh about everything the next day, or week, whatever. On top of that, I actually approve of your girlfriend (a lot), which rocks so props to you.

Every time I come home from school, or you come up to visit, we have the best time. Plus, you either clean my house or offer to cook me breakfast so that's cool, too. My friends think you are way too cool, and that's probably because you used to comment "Hey, she gotta boyf?" on every Instagram picture I've ever posted.

I'm so thankful to be so close to you. Even though we are the least serious siblings ever (which makes sense, just look at our family), I appreciate how much you care for me - and everyone else you meet. It's super apparent in all of the things you do for me and others. Keep on! You'll go far in life.

Love you so much!!

-Sissy

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
