Some Things to Believe In

A few things to believe in while you're struggling through the rest of the semester.

Some Things to Believe In

The fifth slice of pizza: Or even just good food. If it tastes good then it is good for you, right? Well, probably not, but sometimes rewarding yourself with something that tastes good is not always the worst thing you could do for yourself. Everything is bad for you, so a double cheeseburger from McDonald’s every once in awhile isn’t going to kill you. (Unless you eat them all the time, which I don’t suggest)

A good pair of sweat pants: After a long day of school, work and dressing up for everyone else the best thing to do when going home is to change out of your jeans and put on a good pair of sweats. Forever oversized and not judging you for the fifth slice of pizza you had the night before.

Girl power: Being in a sorority I’m all about the girl power, and not even just girl power, but also just people standing up for themselves. In a world full of meanies it is a good thing to stick together and be there for one another. That’s a huge thing I love about being apart of a sorority, because even if you are not best friends with every girl in it they’re going to support you, tell you when you’re being stupid and be there to pick you up when you need it most.

Not being so hard on yourself: You’ve made it this far so stop being so hard on yourself because sometimes you’re going to have a bad day. Life is hard, and we all struggle, but being able to realize you make mistakes is the only way to fix things. Situations always get better. Remember, when one door closes another opens.

The glass of wine after a hard day: And when you can’t find that other open door there will always be a glass of wine waiting for you. Get some friends together, sit around a table, drink some wine and just laugh it off. Coffee says get it done, wine says we’ll get them tomorrow.

Lipstick: A good color lipstick can fix everything. An outfit that might be too dull can be spiced up with some red lipstick. I just feel more feminine and powerful when I where lipstick; like a Marilyn Monroe, Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé baby or something.

Being honest: It’s important. People get caught up in their lives and sometimes it is easier to tell a lie to not hurt feelings and avoid conflicts, but being honest is an amazing quality to still have in the world we live in it today. Plus, lies will always be found out then you’ll be in a bigger pickle than you were in the beginning.

Doing things for yourself: Someone said if you want something done right you have to do it yourself. True. Also, do other things for yourself. Dress up nice, because you want to. Get yourself a venti, because it sounds better than a tall. Buy yourself those shoes, because they are super cute and you totally do deserve them.

Forgiveness: Everyone messes up, so stop being so hard on your friends and family and remind them that they are in your life for a reason. Saying sorry is easier than saying goodbye.

God: I owe everything to this guy; always cleaning the slate and helping me when no one else is there. Sometimes I forget about him, but I know he never forgets about me and that is something to believe in.

The best superpower ever? Being invisible of course. Imagine just being able to go from seen to unseen on a dime. Who wouldn't want to have the opportunity to be invisible? Superman and Batman have nothing on being invisible with their superhero abilities. Here are some things that you could do while being invisible, because being invisible can benefit your social life too.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
