With the official date and time set for Alpha Phi’s annual philanthropy event, the ladies are working hard to plan their best show yet. Mr. Phi-Nomenal is a male talent show that occurs during the spring semester each year.
It raises both money and awareness for women’s heart health through The Alpha Phi Foundation. Women everywhere have been raising money for cardiac aid ever since Alpha Phi was one of the first women’s fraternities to establish a foundation in 1956.
This year, Mr. Phi-Nomenal will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 24. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the event will begin at 7:30 p.m. For the first time, it will be held in Emens Auditorium thanks to selling out in Pruis Hall the past few years.
“We are very excited about our move to Emens because we had to turn people away last year don’t think that’s fair. While it the jump in capacity is sort of intimidating, we just view it as an opportunity to get even more people to come out to the event,” said Alpha Phi’s Director of Philanthropy, Haley Freck.
Auditioning to be a contestant is not limited to just Greeks; all male Ball State students are eligible to apply. Some examples of past performances include singing, dancing, rapping and even cheerleading stunting. The contestants must answer a final question as well.
Applications are due by Monday, Feb. 9, and auditions will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
This year’s theme is “King of Hearts” and tickets are already available to purchase. They are $10 now and will be $13 at the door. Bulk seating is also available.
