22 Times "Freaky Friday" Summed Up Your College Experience

1. When your parents spew life advice at orientation weekend.

"Remember to be yourself! And wear a jacket!"

2. Meeting everyone. And I mean EVERYONE.

"Hi! My name is Amanda and I'm from California and I love the beach and my dog's name is Pooki and we should be friends! Want to be friends?"

3. Scrambling to find a major that you like.

"Well, I've watched "Grey's Anatomy" so I should make a great doctor."

4. Syllabus week.

"I thought college was supposed to be fun? "

5. Figuring out how weird your roommate REALLY is.

"What is this, one of them thongs? I don't want to know."

6. When your school runs emergency drills without letting you know.

"Everybody remain calm. This is not a drill."

7. Realizing that finals have arrived and you are thoroughly underprepared.

"So, I only need a 95 percent on the final to pass this class."

8. The first summer back home with your parents.

"She is dead, worse than dead. She will spend the next year in a phoneless, dateless, Amish existence!"

9. Suddenly feeling empty without your friends.

"I miss everyone and I am utterly alone."

10. Returning to school feeling like a boss.

"This year is gonna be a breeze."

11. Somehow forgetting everyone's name...but pulling it off.

"Hey....you!"

12. When the schoolwork hits you like a train.

"I mean like how could I, like, get an F?"

13. When you learn how to not care.

"Like cooking: I mean, have you never heard of takeout?"

14. When eating healthy becomes impossible.

"I just ate Taco Bell. Wait, Chipotle? Yeah, let's go."

15. All of a sudden you're invited to everyone's wedding and you're still single.

"Aren't you, like, the maid of horror or something?"

16. Finally reaching the beautiful 21st milestone.

"Now I can do EVERYTHING. Except drive a rental car."

17. When school only gets harder and you wonder why you even try.

"And how does that make you feel?"

18. But you somehow manage to crush it against all odds.

"Hamlet. He's, uh... he's one of the big characters. I mean, he's Hamlet. He's just... bopping around... doesn't know which way's up. I don't think the guy's got a clue."

19. Before you know it, you're graduating.

"Oh, I'm like the crypt-keeper!"

20. And it's off to the real world.

"A journey soon begins..."

21. But you know that no matter what happens, the friends you met in college will be there for you through it all.

"And Elizabeth, remember, you are a smart, strong, beautiful, independent woman and you don't need a man to complete you."

22. And even if the work week is hard, you'll always have "Freaky Friday."

"So, let's do this thingy!"

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
