Dear Baxter,
Whenever I’m feeling down or like a need a little love, you are the first pup I go to. You never stray far from me, and you always let me know that you care. You are my little protector, but still the sweetest little guy there is. I love you more than anything, and I just wanted to say that you are a big part of the family and nothing would be the same without you.
So, I just wanted to say thank you; thank you for never failing to lick my face and jump up and down every time you see me, thank you for making sure I’m always safe and being the most helpful guard dog. Thank you for never giving up on me even when people do. Thank you for always seeing the good in me instead of any of my flaws. Thank you for bringing me happiness and joy with your sweet little face. Thank you for having the biggest personality and always making sure everyone around always get a laugh.
Thank you for always being my cuddle buddy, my best friend, my caregiver when I’m sick, the one I always look forward to seeing every single and always having a paw to lean on. You like to go on car rides with me, we take walks together, and I can tell you my problems even though you don’t understand (he’s a great listener!)
I may never know why you uncontrollably bark at everything, or why you get all of your toys back out right when they get put back and sometimes I don’t know why you uncontrollably pee every time you see me, but your little quirks make you, you.
However, Baxter, I’m sorry we embarrass you when we swaddle you like a baby around the house, and I’m also sorry you get a little frantic when I leave you for a moment to do an errand. But sure, Baxter likes stealing ham off of people’s plates during the holidays, getting into the trash and being a little mischievous, but that’s what makes your dog part of the family.
Despite their puppy breath, accidents in the house and those occasional bad, but hilarious, haircuts, we love them no matter what. All of the face licks, the cuddles, and the cuteness make you unexplainably lovable. I’m always proud to show everyone pictures and videos of “my Baxter Buddy.” You are the most lovable dog amongst my friends and everyone gets so excited to see you just as you get excied to see them.
My dog is my whole little world, they let you give them little squeezes when you need to, they never fail to make you happy, and they are your little companion. A dog might be your best friend, but to them you are their whole world.
Love,
Rachel
