Homecoming week is agreeably one of the most enjoyable and exciting weeks of every football season. This year's game is Nov. 22 against Western Carolina University. We all have a chance to be involved in the many different activities and events that take place during this jam-packed seven days. However, there is another side to homecoming that none of us will ever forget: freshman year homecoming week. Freshmen get to experience most of the fun during homecoming being Greek considering they are the biggest participants in the competitions. Us upperclassmen, however, do not miss freshman year homecoming week because, let's face it, an insane amount of work is put in by the freshmen to make each house stand out, and that is something we don't mind doing only once. With that being said, here are 30 thoughts that go through a freshman's head during homecoming week.

Girls:

1. Alright, cool. Homecoming was a blast in high school. I'm ready for this. Bring it on.

2. What the hell is a "pomp?"      

3. Wait, you're telling me I have to pomp for how many hours this week?

4. ...Sorry, are they serious?  

5. No sleep for me this week!   

6. Oh em gee we got paired with ATO! Wait, who is Theta Chi paired with then?

7. I want to be in the dance! But I can't dance. Maybe basketball? Or dodgeball? So many decisions...

8. The guys are totally not helping us pomp... what the heck? All they do is come to our house and eat our food. Ugh, pledges.

9. Pomp hour 22: Only eight more to go. I can do this, I can do this!

10. If our swap gets cancelled because our pomp isn't finished I am going to be so effing pissed. I like totes want to meet some cute SAEs tonight!

11. The dance is def. my fave part of homecoming week. I'm gonna kill it out there. FUR. SURE.

12. That sorority had to have started practicing their dance like a week earlier. Cheaters...

13. Oh, and you know that house started pomping in August because our pomp looks like 3rd graders created it and their's looks like Martha Stewart came in and worked her magic.

14. Well, at least we won basketball.  

15. I basically live at the KD house now. I eat here, sleep here, pomp here, pomp here...pomp.

Guys:

1. What is homecoming? What do you mean we have to participate?

2. Yeah, no. No way am I crumbling little pieces of colored paper into balls for hours upon hours.    

3. The girls have to pomp for how many hours? Haha dude that sucks.

4. Haha, dude... does that mean we get to eat their food?    

5. I totally get a break from pledging this week to go sit on my butt and watch hot girls, like, talk to each other and giggle and stuff.

6. Dude my girlfriend is a Phi Mu. She better not be pissed we got paired with Zeta. Wait, who is Phi Mu paired with...?  

7. The only event I'm going to is the dance. I get to watch all the girls shakin' that thang up on stage. Hell yeah.     

8. Let's make this clear: we come to the sorority house for the food. NOT to pomp. We'll even make our own sandwiches to get out of pomping...

9. Kappa has the best homecoming snacks. I'm all about the chips and queso. Snacks keep me thriving this week.

10. If our swap gets cancelled because those girls don't finish our pomp I'm gonna be pissed. I bought a whole case of Natty for tonight. Can't let that go to waste.

11. Yeah that dance competition was pretty sick.. Alpha Chi freshmen are hot.

12. Who cares?

13. Pomping... Who cares...?

14. We dominated dodgeball this year. I mean I'm pretty much the dodgeball champion of the universe. Just call me Peter LaFleur.
